Early this week (7th February), Kyocera officially announced their smartphone, the Echo. Dubbed the first dual-screen smartphone, the device boast two 3.5inch touch screens running on Google's Android operating system.

The screens can be used in four modes among them the "Simul-Task" mode which can run two apps simultaneously, on different screens. The screens can also operate together as a single large display, a tablet if you will. Kyocera is hoping to enter into the "hyper-tasking" culture market with the Echo.

Will this be the start of mobile phone manufacturers pumping out dual-screen smart phones? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

For now the Kyocera Echo will only be released to the American market this Spring. No word yet about international releases.
