Samsung has unveiled Blue Earth, a solar-powered, eco-friendly smartphone.

This pebble-shaped phone features a gorgeous touchscreen front, and a solar-panel on the back, which will charge your phone whenever you're under the sun, which Samsung claims will produce enough power to make a call anytime you want.

The Blue Earth will also feature an energy-efficient mode which automatically adjusts screen brightness, backlight duration and Bluetooth usage.

Samsung says that the Blue Earth comes with a unique user interface that's designed to "draw attention to preserving our fragile environment" and even includes an application that tracks how much CO2 emission you have saved by walking instead of driving.

Environmental activists will be happy to know that the Blue Earth is made of PCM, a material derived from recycled plastic water bottles. Both the handset, and its charger, is free from harmful substances such as Brominated Flame Retardants, Beryllium and Phthalate. It will also be sold in recycled packaging.

There's no word on how much this eco-friendly phone will cost, but it will be available in the second half of this year.
